No more seminary

Yesterday was my last time teaching seminary. :( I have been teaching home study seminary for one girl in our ward (originally it was two but one only came twice). I'm pretty sure if it had been early morning, I wouldn't be so enthusiastic with my sentiments, but being home study, she read on her own each day and then we met once a week to have a lesson.

This year the course of study was Old Testament. I was really unhappy when I found that out originally, but I'm really grateful for the chance I had to read and study it since I wouldn't have done it on my own. Mae, the girl I taught, is really amazing. She is a convert to the church as is most of her family. Her testimony is so sweet and pure and it has been a joy to be around her. She always had a good answer for everything and it was evident that she thinks about things. Its very hard to be a member out here when you are so isolated. She is the only member in her high school. I'm pretty sure I learned a lot more than she did. Although the calling intimidated me a lot initially, I'm so grateful for the time I got to spend with Mae and studying the OT.

The Mile High City

We got back from Denver about a week ago. We were there for 5 days and had a good time. Casey was there for a Museum Professionals conference and I tagged along. Casey's mom and dad and Addie, his little sister, came for a few days as well.

Here are some of the highlights of the trip:

We went to the Denver zoo which was fun. It's a nice zoo and we had a good time as the weather was very nice.

We toured the Mint and a candy factory. Free samples from both were appreciated. (we only got a penny from the mint, but we did get free candy)

I went to the botanical gardens after the Sullivans left. It was really beautiful and relaxing.

Casey and I went to Boulder on Thursday after he was finished. We went to the Celestial Seasonings factory which was very interesting. We wanted to explore some of the nature, but it SNOWED so we couldn't.

The weather was very nice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Wednesday I think it was almost 80 degrees and when we woke up on Thursday, it was snowing! There was about 2 inches and the roads were a little scary. Luckily it cleared up by the time our flight left that night. We took a red eye home, which is always an interesting experience. We made it home and immediately fell asleep for a few hours before we had thing to do.

It was a fun trip and it was good to see family and experience a city I'd never been to.

J- January or July: No question here. July all the way, although they left June off...

N- Number of Siblings: 2 (older brothers), and no, I'm not spoiled rotten (my mom says, I'm spoiled, but not rotten)

O- Oranges or Apples: I have a minor allergy to apples. My throat gets all itchy, but it goes away if I eat something else. I would have to choose oranges.

P- Phobias or Fears: I don't like dogs. I watched a little too much CSI and sometimes I get scared of crazy people breaking into the house. Its better in this apartment since we're on the third floor and its so small, I don't think I could miss a major event like that. I also had as a child, and it continues, a weird and very strong fear of bears.

Q- Quote(s): Is this supposed to be something I say a lot, or a quote I like? I'll have to think about it.

R- Reason To Smile: The sun and warmth. I'm SO glad winter is over. Every time I think about I can't help but smile.

U- Unknown Fact About Me: Whenever I have to come up with something like this, I always say I was in a shooting at the US capital building. I'm not sure how many people who read our blog know this already.

W- Worst Habit: I can think of almost any excuse not to exercise. I'm trying to be better!

X- X-Rays or Ultrasounds: Haven't had too much of either. I try to avoid the doctor as much as possible.

Y- Your Favorite Food: There can't be just one. I love enchiladas, lasagna, ice cream, popsicles, fresh strawberries, pineapple, rice crispy treats. That's what I came up with off the top of my head. It is in no way inclusive.

Spring!

In the past few days it has gotten warmer. Today it was 70 with the sun shining and the flowers are starting to bloom. After a long winter, it feels really good.

I just wanted to share my joy about the changing of the seasons. I hope you are having spring weather where you are!

How Casey bakes bread

Casey and I both like to cook, although one of us seems to do it quite a bit more than the other. I'll let you guess which one. For Christmas I got him a french bread pan because he really loves sourdough and french bread. He has made is successfully several times, but we thought it would be a little better if it could rise a little bit more. He found the warmest spot in the house, on top of the computer, to help it rise. I just started laughing when I saw it tucked away in our office. It turned out great though. :)
