Purple People Eater

Okay, there really isn't any people eating going on here, although Claire is so cute I could just eat her up. Don't they look good in purple though?
Here are a few extra pictures for your viewing pleasure.
She's getting close to sitting up on her own.
It seems like she constantly has her mouth open, just waiting to find the next thing to shove in there. She also pants like a little dog, and if you get food anywhere near her, the panting gets much faster and louder. What a cutie!

my new hobby

Since we've moved and we're living somewhere where living is cheaper, I've decided to bump it up even more and I've gotten into couponing. I'm just new to it, so I'm sure there are people who could do much better, and I'm sure I'll do much better as I build up my supply of coupons and my skills. I wanted to share what I got on a recent shopping trip.

Resses Puffs Cereal, Golden Grahams and Lucky Charms - $1.45 each
Honey Bunches of Oats - $1.17
Muller Whole Wheat Pasta - $.15
Spray and Wash - $.75
Platers Peanuts - $.60
Duracell 4 D Batteries - $1.84
Huggies Baby Wash - $.04 (yes, four cents! I got two at this price because I had two great coupons and it was on a good sale)

I found an awesome blog that helps me match the sales and coupons to get awesome prices. The stores here also automatically double coupons up to $.50. I get a rush when I get really good deals. I have been shopping at around 8:30 at night after we put Claire to bed and then I can't sleep when I get home because I'm excited about saving money. I know that's kind of lame, but since I'm not working, I'm trying to do all I can to save us money. Are any of you into couponing?

4th of July a little late

I know its a little late, but in my defense, I tried this once already and the pictures wouldn't load. I couldn't get all of them to load today either, but at least I got a few. I think blogger is mad at me. It doesn't help that our internet is super slow. Hopefully we will be getting faster internet this week which will help make life a lot more efficient. Also, we have been sick for the last two weeks. Claire started it with a cold and then got pink eye. It then passed to me and I got a bad cold or something with a fever and then an ear infection which hasn't budged with two kinds of antibiotics. Casey then started in on the fun and also got an ear infection which he is still battling as well as a really bad cough. Hopefully we are on the uphill now and can finally start feeling better.

On to the topic at hand. We had a great Fourth of July including a hike at Sweetwater Creek State Park. It has some nice hiking trails which go by the ruins of an old mill which, if I remember correctly, was the biggest fabric mill in Atlanta at the time of the Civil war, but was burned during the war.

It was on the beautiful river and it was a perfect day to be out, as long as we stayed in the shade. We went the river way on the way out, and on the way back we went the forest trail where we saw two deer very close up as well as a snake and lots of squirrels and chipmunks. It was a lot of fun.

We spent the night at Casey's Aunt and Uncle's where they had a wedding/pool party. Kind of a weird combination, I know, but it was a lot of fun. They had great food, good people, swimming and fireworks. It was a great way to spend the day.

See the National Parks for FREE!

You can see the national parks without paying the entrance fee this weekend and also August 15-16. If you've got one near you that you've been wanting to check out, now is your chance. Go here to find out more info. If Casey and I are feeling better, we will be taking advantage of this.

More posts on our life coming up once we are not sick and get a faster internet connection.

Rice Cereal

We gave Claire her first bites of rice cereal.  No surprises here, she loved it.  She loves anything in her mouth including milk (obviously) even from a bottle, vitamins (I tried these, they taste gross), baby tylenol and liquid vaccines.  That's all she had tried up to that point, but rice cereal was a big hit.  It has helped her to sleep better too, which is wonderful.

Of course it was a big mess.  She even lunges after the spoon or bowl, trying to get a little more.

Post-eating bath.  She has such wide eyes and looks so curious all the time.

And for dessert...toes.
